Nothing wrong with writing a short story. I think it would hurt even worse if you spent so much time on writing a long novel but it keeps getting rejected. Ive seen alot of writers who have stacks of long manuscripts but they never got published. Short stories are a great way to practice and learn the art of concise storytelling. Also short stories can be over 10,000 words long. Dont think youre ever limited to a strict word count. Short stories can easily be a root that will grow into something bigger like king said.

The title of this video is misleading. King spoke about the length of short stories and why few (young) writers are writing them presently. There was zero conversation on the craft of short story writing. Craft entails plot, dialogue, conflict, etc. none of that was presented.

Is the interviewer, Perez Hilton (real name Mario}? I’ve been fascinated with him since he became a gossip journalist. His work in that arena coupled with his chosen pseudo name made him rich and famous, but probably did not give his journalistic genius the respect he deserved. Here in this interview, he definitely highlighted that he can hold a candle in the literary world! He is a graduate of NYU!

DID YOU KNOW that: Stephen King ripped off Battle Royale when he wrote The Long Walk (1979) and The Running Man (1982). The movie Death Race 2000 (1975) is a blatant ripoff of Battle Royale. The 1954 novel Lord of the Flies plagiarized Battle Royale. Robert Sheckley also ripped off Battle Royale in his short story "Seventh Victim" (1953). The 1965 film adaptation "The 10th Victim" is also a ripoff off Battle Royale. The ancient Greeks also copied Battle Royale when they came up with the Theseus and Minotaur myth. In fact, it is widely believed that the Romans got the idea for their Gladiator Games after reading Battle Royale.

DID YOU KNOW that: There are some popular ideas in this world, and very few popular series are completely original. It is not plagiarizing if a person takes a simple idea like children being forced to kill each other and turning into a story about a child in these games. I do not think all people that have plenty of knowledge are smart. Also, when did this book come out?

Those are novels that are actually studied in schools and university. The Hunger Games are not original at all, definitely not new or groundbreaking like the other classics were... Stephen King wishes occasionally that he had written the short story in "The Kid Gallagher Story " by Robert C Bauer. The tale "Haddum had a Harem" is styled by the tune of Mark Twain. It could be a children's book as well as a primer for consenting adults.

Especially young scientists should read this book , or more in general young people , because it provides so much wisdom , lessons of life in the circle of life , and how capitalism can make a pioneer in science very rich . Especially how the new discoveries in science will be evaluated ,welcomed and applauded by society , and later findings in research which will make the former discoveries (and earlier scientists ) obsolete, in particular in the pharmaceutical trade . Similar ideas exist. Just like if two people watched a short and both commented something along the lines of: "OMG, did you see that pretty foot that walked past?" (The point is to get something obscure not everybody would notice, no, I do not have a foot fetish) And then they argue about who stole what. They didn't see the other person's comment before. Somebody wrote it first, but then another person wrote the same thing because they thought of it, as well. They didn't write the same thing word for word. Please realize that this idea is plastered everywhere. It is not the same, both are so different with a similarity or so.
